  • Mika Fujita is a dedicated piano teacher and collaborative pianist with over 30 years of experience in both Japan and the United States. She studied piano pedagogy at the Kawai Central Music Academy in Hamamatsu, Japan, and later earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Utah. There, she studied with Dr. Heather Connor, Dr. Caleb Harris, and Dr. Vedrana Subotic, and received the Gerald B. Tracy Memorial Piano Endowment and a Music Scholarship Award. As a collaborative pianist, Mika has performed across the U.S. and abroad, including at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., and the International Physics Conference in Mexico. She’s collaborated in ensembles such as the Turquoise Trio, Early Music Ensemble, and New Music Ensemble, and participated in international festivals in Italy, England, and France.

  • As an educator, Mika brings a thoughtful, individualized approach to teaching students of all ages and levels. Her goal is to nurture each student’s musical potential while building joy and confidence at the piano. She also fosters a supportive studio environment through group classes, collaborative projects, and performance opportunities. Mika is active in the local and state music teaching community. Since returning to Florida in 2020, she has served as Vice President and now President of the Gainesville Music Teachers Association (GMTA). She is also Treasurer of FSMTA District III and a Board Member of the Foundation for the Promotion of Music. Above all, Mika believes in music as a lifelong journey—and is committed to guiding her students every step of the way.
